Many would agree that Impulse buying or spending is not good to your finances. If you know someone who spends too much, how is their relationship with their partner? You see, it it not only your finances that will suffer but your relationships as well. This will also prevent you from acquiring more important things like saving for your retirement, your dream house, a car, or an emergency.
Spending money on things that will never be used or things that has no immediate need are the basic symptoms of impulse buying. It is the same with rushing and buying from the nearest gadget store to purchase a freshly release product before everyone else. And, immediately buying something that you did not know you wanted until you saw it on display and finding your closet filled with shoes and clothes that easily gets out of style with having to wear them once.
If you want to cure your impulse spending, there are some simple and easy steps to take. You can allot a budget on a weekly or monthly basis for all the things you need and only the things you need. In this way, your spending is controlled on important things and you will not be surprised how much credit card companies charge you. Having an understanding of the thing that you need and the things that you want should be of great benefit to your finances. Making a list of the things you need to buy and sticking with it before going to the store will not only save you time but money as well. Let the new gadget gather some dust for a few weeks before you check it out, by then you've forgotten about it.
Doing some of these things and setting some rules on yourself will not make you an instant millionaire but it will keep you from getting into debt and a make your wallet happy. Your partner will appreciate what you have done to improve you situation and maybe surprise you with something.
